JAMES THOMPSON
Biography
James Thompson has had a passion for performing and writing music since a
very young age. He has studied and performed many styles of music including Blues, Classical, Jazz,
Country, and Rock. James has studied music and the arts all over the U.S. and
eventually received formal musical training at Albany University. Being half
British, his over seas travel and multi-cultural upbringing has influenced the way
he perceives and writes music. Beginning with violin, piano, and eventually his
main instrument guitar, James has used music as a way to communicate ideas,
images, and emotions to people all over the world.
James' technically oriented guitar playing and thoughtful song writing has
received international exposure in the rock genre with his group formerly titled Alter Ego. James was the leading force in producing a studio and live sound
that took the band throughout New England & New York City and eventually
found them a release on Big Noise Records and a three Album deal in
Germany. The group was featured in Livewire Magazine (US) and Heavy Oder Was Magazine (Germany) as well as fan 'zines all over the world.
With many studio projects under his belt
and rigorous road experience James is no stranger to the music business. He
has seen the best and worst the industry has to offer and has since entered the next phase of his career with the group Soul Therapy. His self titled debut solo release was well received by fans and industry professionals and the songs were performed live to thousands via a live cable broadcast performance at the 1999 National Music Foundation regional musicians showcase.
James has performed with Soul-Therapy and other Tri-State area groups from 1999 to the present and is currently working in the Studio to complete several projects. |
